I don't know how many of you have seen Pranam Khareedu (Chiru's first movie). Kranthi Kumar production, CS Rao. I can never tire of watching this. The first time i saw this i was totally blown away. Though there have been many rural movies based on feudal backdrop, many of them are too artsy (like Narsing Rao's Daasi) or bit too commercial like the many Krishna and Rao Gopal Rao movies. Pranan Khareedu strikes a fantastic balance between being realistic and also being entertaining. The interactions between Rao Gopal Rao and Nutan Prasad are the highlights of the movie. The dialogues are totally brilliant, the dialect used is very local and makes a lot of difference. I have heard words in the movie that i never heard before or after. And for a movie in the 70s it was quite liberal in cuss words. Chakravarthy's songs are wonderful. Yenniyallo yenniyallo is one of favourites of Chakravarthy. Choodakapothe, choodandi. Choosthe, malli choodandi... |
