Prem - tax increases have nothing to do with Businesses not investing. That is just a stupid Republican agenda that has not been countered well. In fact, the cash flows of businesses are at one of their best ever and the cash in hand for industries is also at one of their highest ever. Reduction of tax will only give them more profits and more cash. The businesses are not investing because of lack of visibility around growth in US and outside. It has nothing to do with tax rates or interest rates. Same as in the case in India. Subbarao did a right thing, just because you reduce interest rates is not going to make industries invest more in capex or expansions. | ||

Some kind of stimulus is widely expected, since the pace of recovery is not as brisk as expected. When you want to give stimulus it has to be timely. Too late is too little. just stay in the sidelines.... The Fed now expects growth of 1.9 to 2.4 percent in 2012, down from its previous 2.4 to 2.9 percent forecast. It also trimmed growth for 2013 to 2.2 to 2.8 percent, from 2.7 to 3.1 percent, and 2014 growth was forecast at 3 to 3.5 percent. some what bad news.....
