Lot of pressure......kothaga chiru party pettadu....YSR baga financialga strong ayyadu after 5 years rule......because of so much pressure he didnot dare to give fight single hand......so he formed mahakutami....which is a flop show
he don't have any choice on this......only choice he have is fight for separate telangana. Actually CBN has good image in national level and has lot of good contacts with other regional parties than KCR. If he leads Telangana movement it is very easy to get separate state as he can convince seemandhra TDP MLA's also on this.......so what next.....If telangana state forms the KCR will start saying that division didnot happened properly....we lost lot of revenue and water share....we need to vacate settlers in hyderabad.....that will be next TRS agenda after formation of telangana..........TDP cannot handle on this.......i personally like the way CBN did on telangana movement.........though lot of pressure he got though his party got damaged lot in Telangana he didnot acted against the favor of Andhra pradesh state by leading seperate telangana movement

Filmbuff brother, coming to the caste angle, tdp is in a catch-22 situation here. TDP is strongly perceived as a Kamma party by other castes. If you accomodate kammas more, other castes might move away. If you accomodate other castes more, kammas might move away. So this has to be taken care of delicately. Also shed the caste image. Take Reddies for example. Their party is run by them and they get the maxmum benefits but they are successful in projecting their party as a party for dalits, minorities, etc. That is their strength. TDP was successful in 80's to project their party as a Bc's party. But that image is gone now. TdP should try their best to get back that image. Stop being aggresive on other castes. Filmbuff brother, good analysis from a tdp supporter's point of view. A common man/voter will have different views but thats different. I understand your point. In my opinion (not as a Jagan fan), the main problem for TDP/CBN is credibility. Some policies that don't work for some parties will work wonders for other parties. For example, congress' policy of throwing all the blame of all bad that happened in between 2004-2009 on Ysr and giving the credit for all the good during that period to congress has misfired miserably. That is because of ysr sympathy and jagan mania. but that kind of policy would work wonders for tdp in my opinion. There is strong belief in common man and farmers, whose vote decide the election results, that cbn's rule was a nightmare with most suffering. What tdp should do is blame cbn and cbn alone for the suffering and ills during that period and give credit to tdp party for all the good that happened during that period like Hitech IT, infrastructure, generation of wealth, etc. get rid of CBN and appoint a new leader and then go to public on common man issues and farmer issues. The credibility will be back and public will start to believe tdp. This is only for the image in the front. In the backend, give an important position in party for cbn and let him run the party in background. Congress was successful in this strategy in centre to won back the muslim vote. when muslims moved away from congress for the babri episode, congress blamed pv narasimharao for the babri debacle and washed hands off it. The muslims came back to congress and congress won again in centre. So follow this strategy in TDP party and it will do good for tdP. Andharuu Baagundaali. | ||

As far as I know "janalu" are not asking. there is no avenue for that. they are searching for a new power center. disenchantment with all previous power holders, TDP was in power for almost two decades. so they public thinks, well, no hurry to bring them back again yet, lets try this new one. Chiranjive was given benefit of doubt, but it did not work out, this time, it is Jagan's share. Let us see how well this holds. These 18 are chrry picked places with incumbents who resigned for a cause. I think the factors are ripe in the state for the kind of post Mandal situation in UP and Bihar where the non-Brahmin, non-Thakur parties took hold. I am surprised that not many parties follow the business trend of identifying market niches and targeting them. For instance, there is no BC party in the state. Of course the underlying dynamics of AP are different from a UP or Bihar. I do feel that Chiru had a good niche (not sure if his community is BC or not), but unfortunately he gave up. | ||

For the larger state, these are difficult times. @FB When things did not go well, everything seems like wrong. That is what has happened to TDP. Still he is the best leader by far. His last term loss was by 1% vote margin. I do not think AP voters are smart enough to notice either good or bad in any leader. They are basically influenced by two things: (1) disenchantment (2) propaganda. As long as someone new is there, the voter is not going to look at a previous winner. This the #1 problem for TDP last time. The same issue is going to happen to Congress as well. This will continue till they get disenchanted with Jagan. There is no other solution than keep trying. At some point the tide will turn. Till then, keep the cadre to best you can, field sensible candidates, keep the expenses low, groom long term leadership council, keep the family squabbles under the mat, above all, stay scrupulously clean. Rest, as you said, upto the people. No matter what, who ever comes to power in future, it will not be just possible to loot the state once again like Jagan and YSR did. Firstly, industrialists and IAS fellows will not jump into the politicians' bed, secondly anything that smells like corruption will be immediately high lighted. Hopefully, the days of large scale swindling are over for India. I have waited for the dust to settle and the agony to subside before posting a few of my thoughts on what the elections mean for TDP in particular and broadly to AP in general - Though i find it difficult to reconcile to the fact, the best days of CBN (if not TDP) are behind him. This situation has largely come about because of a few key strategic mistakes he has done which shows his politic faculties are diminishing. His tie up with TRS and the Commies for instance in 2009. He gave them nearly 75 seats inspite of feedback that they may not get win many seats. Ultimately these seats killed him. More than the seat sharing, it shows a weakness or vulnerability that one is not capable of winning on their own. - He has been doing too much opposing and politicking that does not fit in with his profile. Take the case of the nuclear deal with US. There was no practical reason for TDP to oppose it either in ideology or in history. We were always the liberal secular party. TDP started behaving like the BJP, you can't oppose everything just because you don't like the Congress. I felt disheartened seeing CBN reach out to the Commies and bring the UPA down on this non-issue. Even the BJP is hurting for the same reason. - CBN has lost his verve and dominance. During the entire Telangana agitation, i felt sorry seeing him bend down to two penny leaders like Nagam, Kadiam Srihari, etc. Voters want their leaders to be strong, not weaklings. - Indeciviness - during the Telangana agitation, CBN could have stood out and made a bold strategic move. He could have said that he will support Telangana (with settlements on Hyderabad and water issues). That is just an example. With a long history of governance, he could have reached out to other parties and tried to establish a consensus viewpont and a common ground. After 3 years, i still am not sure what he means on Telangana. He lost a valuable change to rise above the crowd and show his sagacity. - Loss of core. TDP has lost its core - the Kamma and BC strongholds in Coastal Andhra. Every party has a core which is very important for funding, canvassing, etc. Most Reddies vote for the Congress (or YSRCP). CBN, i don't know how or why, has alienated his core. I find it difficult to grasp in the last elections how badly TDP did in Krishna and Guntur. I think TDP did better in Cuddapah probably. That is an ominous sign. CBN is paying the price for his supposed non-casteist politics. That is good administration and governance, but unfortunately in India and AP, that is bad for politics. You will end up being a niche party like Loksatta. All the Kamma leaders are in Congress - Renuka, Purandeshwari, Lagadapati, Nadendla, Rayapati, Galla etc. - The next year are very important if TDP is going to survive. There is a change of leadership that is needed. Second generation leaders, more youth participation, women leaders etc. I strongly feel that someone like Purandeswhari should lead TDP. CBN should reach out to her and ask her to lead. If he can't deep differences aside with Daggubati and get a couple of family members back, if he can't win his community back - how can he get the larger state back on his side. Getting Purandeswhari back will be a stunner - ladies, Kammas, coastal, educated, middle class etc can be a lock down. She is educated, erudite, eloquent, capable and seemingly non-corrupt. Thinking of people like Jr NTR is too early now. There is a urgent need for a family conclave a la the Godfather. - For the larger state, these are difficult times. The seeming indifference to corruption is difficult to digest. From an evolutionary standpoint, there are some moral absolutes like that "stealing is bad" or "murder is sin". Societies are based on these fundamental truths which, if not held to the heart, can destroy the delicate balance and the moral fabric which is important for societies' continued functioning. We are at a crucial junction in our states' growth path where i feel we have chosen the wrong fork in the road. As i have said before, there is extreme suspicion around all Andhra companies and deals in the finance community largely arising out of the moral and ethical fabric being frayed. For the Kammas (including me), one last suggestion. Even this shall pass. We have shown the state how we can govern. Let the public have fond memories of that. It is not necessary to be in power. We can become like the Jews or Marwaris - let us work even harder, become wealthier, contribute more to society, become a bit less petty. Most people and communities will love to be in the position that we are in. No harm in that. |
