Compensate them well. Here what happened is not for projects. This is what happened here: 1) Nimmgadda invests 850 Cr in Jgathi 2) Government "acquires" 28000 acres 3) Govt gives 28000 acres to NP 4) Govt does not allocate farmer compensation in budget, because it would attract central/cag/opposition scrutiny 5) They find a Dubai co called RAK and sell a stake in the project in lieu of 600 cr, ostensibly to cover the compensation 6) NP and a Minister pocket half of that. 7) They distribute remaining half to the farmers 8) The distribution officials ask for 30% bribe to disburse the amount to the farmers. 9) Most farmers do not know what they are entitles, so ended up with 25% compensation. Guys, It is UNFAIR to HIGHLIGHT all the land acquisitions from the land owners. When there is a PROJECT/DAM is envisioned and necessary land is acquired, THERE WILL be SOME people feel BITTER when they loose their land in the process. What we have to SEE is whether there are any IRREGULARITIES or IF the PROJECT didn't happen. Bottomline, ALL land acquisitions are NOT BAD. | ||
