05/30/2012: H-1B Cap Count as of 05/25/2012 [Revised] Wow, cap number started running out more than 6,000 a week during this period. If this pace should continue, our prediction turns out to be a little bit "liberal" and the cap may reach the cap counts between 06/08/2012 and 06/15/2012 in our table below. This trend will present a serious problem for the employers to fill the needs of high tech employees for almost over 15 months after the cap reaches in middle or later part of June 2012! This is particularly troublesome considering the fact that the country's economy may continuously improve and recover from the recession during the period with higher rate of demand for these foreign professional workers. } | ||

The USCIS has been reporting H-1B cap weekly by regular cap and master cap. However, as the master cap approaches the cap soon, the total cap count gives a better picture of actual time frame of reach of the H-1B cap count rather than two separate count betweeen regular cap and master cap. In determining the final cap reach date, the USCIS will use this year's available cap number excluding Chile and Singapore special numbers, which is 78,200 PLUS last year's unused Chile and Singapore Cap numbers, which could be around 5,800 to 6,000. Thus total available cap numbers for this year will be again close to 84,000 or 85,000 plus or minus figures. Until now, the total cap number has been reduced at the rate of approximately 6,000 a week. Should this trend continue, the cap will reach in about four to five weeks from 05/18/2012, which will be the last cap count period in the following table. Accordingly, we predict that the FY 2013 H-1B cap will reach definitely before July and most likely around the last week of June 2012. We will keep updating the following table. The USCIS is expected to release the cap count as of 05/25/2012 shortly. Please stay tuned to this web site. |
