Benkal:

Please help me how to improve my English pronunciation and get good vocabulary. I am kind of new to this country and I badly need it. When I am speaking, it's hard for the whites to understand. I noticed when they always ask me to repeat what i said.

Don't laugh at me. I am in a dire state.

Its a very common problem, so Dont take it to heart. You can overcome it. The best way is to interact with americans as much as possible. They know that you are a foreigner so you dont have to feel embarrassed. Second, watch sitcoms like seinfeld, everybody loves raymond, friends etc. as much as you can - It not only helps with the pronunciation, but american culture/ method of thinking in general. Also watch local news, cnn etc. Dont get depressed, keep trying and you will find the balance soon.

Talk slowly, enunciate each word clearly , make eye contact - 3 main things most new immigrants have trouble with...

Listen to the radio - watch talk shows and take evry opportunity to practice speaking.
