Enti intha daridrangaaa vundhaa.. Ram Gopal Varma has come up with a new police flick ‘Department’. The eccentric movie maker managed to rope in Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Telugu Star Rana Daggubati and Abhimanyu Singh for the lead roles. The movie has released today, so let us see how it is. Story: Mahadev Bhosle ( Sanjay Dutt) is a senior police officer of the Mumbai Police Department. He is tasked with forming a special strike force within the department in order to combat the underworld menace. Bhosle drafts a tough young cop, Shiv Narain (Rana Daggubati) into the team and takes him under his wing. Also interested in the proceedings are Sarjerao Gaekwad (Amitabh Bachchan) , who is a gangster turned politician. As Shiv Narain and Bhosle go about hunting the underworld criminals, Shiv Narain is forced to question the very foundations of his beliefs. Vested interests and greed cause rifts in relationships and in the team. What will Shiv Narain do? And who is the real villain? That forms the story of Department Plus Points : This movie has only three positives. Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati and Anjana Sukhani. Thats about it. Nothing more. And despite great performances from these three actors, the film is beyond salvage ( more on that later) Minus Points : If you thought RGV’s film making skills hit their low point in RGV ki Aag, you are in for a surprise. Department proves that RGV can come up with new ways of irritating movie goers. The much hyped ‘Rogue Methodology’ is utter nonsense and will leave you feeling nauseous with a heavy migraine towards the end. The camera angles are so bad that even A grade actors like Amitabh Bachchan are made to look foolish. All the actors are wasted, without exception. Nathalia Kaur is absolutely useless in the item number and so is Madhu Shalini. Abhimanyu Singh gives you the impression that he is crying out for help, for someone to come and rescue him from this disaster project. Lakshmi Manchu is wasted Technical Aspects : Cinematography is atrocious and unless RGV ditches the Canon 5D, you can safely expect all his future projects (if any) to have the same level of ‘quality’. Background music is forgettable. Editing is horrendous. Dialogues are cheesy. RGV’s direction is so bad that there is absolutely no point talking about it. Baboi intha direct anesadu  Verdict : If you want to extract revenge against someone, buy them tickets and send them to Department. It is the ultimate form of revenge. Stay away from RGV’s ‘Department’ unless you want to experience torture of the highest degree. |
