Pawan Kalyan is simply outstanding in the role of Gabbar Singh and he delivers beautifully on all counts. Pawan Fans will go into raptures of delight with his comedy, punch dialogues and mannerisms. veedi minuses on Dummu Negative Points: Dammu’s story might be a bit old fashioned one, but that is hardly its problem. It is how the story is paced, that sometimes gets to you. The first half ending reminds us of Rajamouli’s Chatrapathi minus the impact it had on us. With such a sequence a lot is expected from the second half, and even though the director tries to balance it well, the movie climax becomes touch weaker. Also a heavy casting overshadows Brahmandam and Ali’s comedy. The way Karthika’s character is etched can be irksome to family audiences, and Venu’s character, hardly has any meaning till it’s quite late. Same is the case with the three girls who play Jr.NTR’s sisters, and two women standing behind Bhanu Priya all the time. The song ‘Ruler’ falls short of expectations too. Veedi minuses for Dookudu What is bad: While no one can take away the credit from the many comic situations, they go on expected lines for those who have watched Srinu Vytla’s earlier films like Dhee and Ready. The main emotional content of the film, featuring Prakash Raj and Mahesh Babu, falls short of expectations. Slow second half too plays spoil sport to an extent. HIGHLIGHTS OF GABBAR SINGH * Comedy quotient is high throughout most of the film. * First half moves along at an incredible pace/entertaining/Solid dialogues. * Antyakshari block in the police station is hilarious * Romantic track has been conceived very well by Harish Shankar. * Harish succeeds brilliantly in the first half as a director * Harish fails to repeat that brilliance in the second half. * Special mention must be made of Harish Shankar’s dialogues. Racha nee addindhi mamaa. so big deal for this movie. Definitee gaa avvudhi Veedi review baaga raasedu. Media partner aina koodaa very impartial Minus Points : Ajay has a very small role and does not have much to do. Same goes for Kota Srinivasa Rao. Except for the ‘Mandu Babulam’ song, he does not have any significant role in the film. There have been some major changes in the script, particularly in the second half and perhaps, the original storyline from Dabangg should have been used. Tanikella Bharani’s role does not do justice to his talent. The pace of narration dips slightly in the second half and care should have been taken to match the first half’s tempo. The required emotional depth is missing in the run up towards the climax. The climax sequence could have been handled better. The voice used to dub for Shruti Haasan is a little odd. Pawan Kalyan’s fans will have a very enjoyable time while watching Gabbar Singh. The movie has good comedy, superb dialogues and some very entertaining episodes from Pawan. A faster second half and a better climax block would have really elevated the film. Still, the sheer brilliance of the first half and a sterling performance from Pawan make Gabbar Singh a solidly entertaining watch. Thumbs up for Gabbar Singh.
