There are no free markets today.....and capitalism is just for namesake.....rich and poor both thrive on socialism and govt largesse.........crushing the middle class...... every single law/regulation is sold with attractive names and propaganda is .........for the well being of the people/kids/women and whatever...... Free markets can exist when govt is minimal....... |

in a condensed form http://www.adamsmith.org/sites/default/files/resources/conde nsed-WoN.pdf what a brilliant mind......However modern economy has almost no similarity with his ideas....no free markets exist......the entire financial architecture is different from the days of smith.....fiat currency didn't exist during his time.....he had no postive opinion on joint stock comapnies......and what is his opinion on business interest groups "The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order, ought always to be listened to with great precaution, and ought never to be adopted till after having been long and carefully examined, not only with the most scrupulous, but with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men, whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it." Yet business robber baron supporters argue on the basis of smith's work |
