On bad days I really wish I could leave the USA for someplace that's more socially free and tolerant, and has a govt that serves the people instead of the corporations and tycoons. I don't have any idea where that might be, but the USA under the influence of the rightwing nuts I see all around me isn't the forward-looking country I saw in the 1960s and 1970s. There were tensions, but the smart liberal side was winning.
quote:
America was very content to give you a home, provide you with the best education in the world, and a safe, clean, place to grow up and oppotunities that you can get no where else in the world. That same America will welcome you back with open arms when you decide that maybe your parents left their ancestoral homeland for a reason. If you need the best medical care in the world don't hesitate to fly back immediately. If you run afoul of the laws, some of which are fairly unusual please feel free to call your American embassy and they will do everything they can to extricate you from harms way. In case of some terrorist act or natural disaster your American embassy will provide you safe haven. Now if you really want to experience the reality of your ancestoral homeland then renounce your citizenship of your "adopted" homeland.
