Wow! what landed in you in this? What language are you going to use? Depending on that you have some options. The easiest would be to use Java and Weka. Goto Weka site and check it out. Goog for "Hidden Markov +Weka" and "Expectation Maximization +Weka", you will get to the starting point. If you want to check the books, Skiena did not cover these. Knuth also I doubt. That leaves Ullmann's Big Data book, which is available free. He may have covered it. Another possibility is Raghavan's book on Approximation Theory. Drop me a mail with more details, we can take it from there. If you are to do in python or lisp, your options might be quite less (I could be wrong), I have not checked that actually. So first figure out the platform, then you go from there. If you can manage with Weka, it is quite comprehensive.
