I tried looking at her, almost annoyed, why would she give me such stuff. but she is not there. Now I am getting it. I am no longer scared, but started realizing that "lady" is not a human, either she is some supernatural thing or something I cannot explain. But looks like harmless unless something more serious she is going to plan. but anyway my stop is coming, lets see if the TTE can give me the cange. as I thought the TTE came sat in front of me, and started writing the receipt, counted the notes and tried to give me the change. just then I noticed, the same bracelet, with skulls and bones. i froze a minute, took the change, placed it back in his hand, collected two bags and jumped out of the slowing train. Almost 3:10 AM one mile to walk. Home sweet home. a car guy honks loudly. did not want to lookup again. used all my effort not to notice her, or think about her or check what she is doing. she speaks. i had to look at her. looked. she is still a human. she had something in her hand. actually two or three things. like fruits. something like peach/apricot/plum but not anything like i saw before even in us grocery stores. what could they be? look delicious. not nice to look at her food, damn it. she just started saying something. just bought these local specialities in the canteen, he said some name, not sure what it is, want to try, and offered it for me. thats when i noticed, she has a bracelet, with skull shaped pearls some gold some black some white, but all shaped like skulls! with links shaped like bones. She put the fruit in my hand and said, try it, nice. she started biting one, some juicy blood oozing from the deep red insides of the fruit with seeds shaped like skulls she had on her wrist. my eyes widened like windows and almost dropped the fruit on the seat next to me and then lifted with the magazine kept in the window, lifted the window, and the train is topping for some reason, slowing down, and threw the magic fruit outside with effort and intime, it fell down hit the ground. and made a splash of fluorescence in the dark, almost like a deepavali firework. the TTE this time passed the other direction. Just tried to make an eye contact to remind him of the change, he made a hand gesture to say he remembers this and wait. okay, thought. then the girl came. She smiled and said, sorry I forgot the magazine in the canteen, went in a hurry to get it. Lucky not grabbed by someone yet! I said, oh you shouldn't have. then I asked, did you see the snake? What snake? Big snake! Did it do anything to you? Where? Right here, where you are sitting. You must be joiking! no. serious. Are you? Can't be. Where would a big snake come from in a train? thats what i cant figure. did you check the restrooms? noooo. dont go to the restroom. it might be there.. okay.. i dont need to. may be you jsut had just another nightmare. oh, well, may be. may be jet lag. not sure.. started looking inside the magazine. tried to look at her and almost asked, can I have the other magazine? she is there, but not there. her head is morphing three ways in an undivided fashion, her two eyes are becoming like two circles, the mouth went to each of the three parts, the throat started developing thick broad scales, and within seconds there is a huge three headed cobra with black tongues with a foot wide hood and circles under it and hissing and rustling her sari is covering in snake scales and legs are moving like a snake body in circular mode and hissing and rustling and looking menacing.. i was just so stunned pulled my feet up and pushed myself against the seat wall that I am almost plastered, closed my eyes, and started thinking am i sleeping now, is this another dream, is she going to kill me? bite me? will the train have a doctor? will the doctor have anti-venom? think quickly what happens when snake bites. lungs and heart muscles stop working. is it happening, not yet. anytime now, did she bite me, not till now.. some rustling sound some more she is moving coming close, no going far, far, far. looks like she is gone. dont want to check. this is just horrible. why is this happening. opened the eyes after what seemed like an eternity. snake is not there. the lady is not there either. no sign of any thing odd. checked the couple again. they are smiling and teasing each other. train is going steadily. where would that big snake go. where did it come from? what happened to the girl? are they same or different? did the snake eat the girl? this is just so uncanny. just cannot explain this stuff. dont tell me, I am sleeping.. single stars vese kante enduku vesaro chebithe telustundi. --------------------------------------------------------- oka 2 minutes taruvatha kallu terichanu. aa ammayi ledu. didn't just get it. what happened just now! checked for any signs of that strange thing. what happened to all that smell, fluids, feathery hair that whole thing! just checked all my belongings. checked for others. that couple are still there in the same way. stood up and checked if anyone is worried about me. none. nobody knew what happened. its quite dark outside, train is going steady. wanted to have a coffee. nobody there to get it. didnt want to move. sat thinking deeply. not able to figure out. another few minutes passed. the TTE just passed the aisle in a hurry, he had to give me some change, thought will ask next time he is this way. the same girl came back as if she just went to the restroom or somewhere. smiled slightly, and she said, you took quite a sound nap, went to the catering van to have a coffee, brought one for you also. what!! did I sleep just now? was that a dream, I had? Damn. can't believe it. it must be. thats why it seemed like it never happened. She cant be that monstrous thing. She is nice. Brought me a coffee to return the favor. I said, thanks, and took the coffee, and started sipping, still thinking. Is this normal? I never had nightmares before! can i fall asleep and have a nightmare all in half an hour? oh wow, whatever.. I always like Stephen King's movies. After comedy, I think horror is the most difficult genre to make it work.
