Those who have followed this 10-year old case of Gujarat riots would see that it centers round three main characters, namely, Zakia Zafri, Sanjay Bhatt and Teesta Seetalvad who are relentlessly engaged in keeping the case alive. The popular perception is that it is the Congress party and some Muslim organizations in India which have been supporting the trio financially for perusing the case . The Congress party has, on its part, its political interest in Modi- baiting to woo the ‘minority community’ across the country in view of the general elections in 2014. In fact, a section of the people also believe that prolonged litigation in which these characters are engaged might also be funded by Pakistan and possibly by some gulf countries. Ironically, there is none to pursue the case of Sikh genocide of 1995 when three thousand Sikhs were killed, almost double the number of persons killed in Gujarat riots in 2002 ! | ||
