i never do protective stop orders for selling. only above price limits for selling. below price limits are for only buying. having said that, on flash crash day, i had some sells only which did not go through. had no buys. did not make any diff to me. i use crashes to load up. i keep cash on hand. it takes balls of steel though. i sometimes feel you need a separate login to just enter and buy not wanting to see the account. i might heart attack if you see the bloodbath. there were times my acct was down 40%. I did nothing. stood by the pciks. they came back just fine. thanks to apple and isrg. it took me a few years to learn the patience. all you need is patience. and some detachment from money. like, well, if i lose this bet, i will have to work X months longer! that gave me the courage. once you get that courage you dont get swayed by the market. i used to do far more than necessary. even now, most of my random trades lose money. i have to curb that. if i do only random trades, i would be in a dump.
