I meant more in the terms of an MP, MLA, MLC etc. An NAC member does not have executive/law making power. They can propose really good things but the ultimate power lies in the hands of the legislator. Take the Lokpal fiasco for example, it took so long and is still unsuccessful only bcoz we do not have enough number of good MPs in the houses. The superior man understands what is right. TOTALLY true.. even Dr. Ravi and gang agrees to this.. that is why they are involved in politics in policy making issues.. he was one of the advisors in NAC (National Advisory Council) and has/had access to Sonia Gandhi. he is the champion for NGREGA Act... etc etc.. | ||

Good to know this. My personal feeling is that NGOs, volunteer orgs can only do so much. It takes a lot to sustain them. If good people like Ravi enter politics, and people support them, they can make their work sustainable for ever by bringing changes in the system. The superior man understands what is right. actually their work in Narmada valley was inspiration to Ashutosh.. he came accross their work while shooting for Lagaan somewhere in Gujarat, Aamir and Ashutosh were spellbound.. and Ashutosh took his thread for Swades. Dr. Ravi's father is a scientist at BARC.. he lives in Delhi and happens to be Medha Patkar's neighbor in Mumbai... Unfortunately thru Swades/SRK his "AID" did not get needed publicity/media attention.. | ||
