The news has been doing the rounds for quite some time, ever since 2008 to be precise. That was when Chiranjeevi started his Praja Rajyam and took a plunge into active politics. While his political journey has had a bumpy ride, his acting has always evoked curiosity. Every known writer, director and leading lady has been associated with Chiranjeevi’s landmark film, and like Sachin Tendulkar’s 100th Test century, it remains elusive. Some days back, there was a controversy when the superstar’s son Ram Charan Teja remarked that Tamil film directors like Murugudoss, Shankar and others were better than the ones in Tollywood. This created a furore when Balakrishna took objection and reacted sharply. Chiranjeevi’s diplomatic intervention settled the matter at the time, but slowly the reasons are coming out into the open. Chiranjeevi’s family has always had a liking for Tamil directors. And now, word out on the street is that it is none other than Shankar who is directing Chiranjeevi’s 150th film, which will be a period film about a freedom fighter. That being the case, with two years to go to the polls, it will be a good venture for Chiranjeevi. While his arch-rival Balakrishna, who is going to town slapping his thigh and twirling his moustache, may also come up with a masala film that could aid the Telugu Desam, who is using him as a poster boy.
