Laconia Associates Inc., a Tampa information technology consulting firm and employee leasing company operated by Allala, submitted fake H1B visa applications for Indian nationals between 2006 and 2010, a statement from the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida said. The H1B visa program allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations, which cannot be filled from within the United States by a U.S. citizen. Allala submitted the bogus visa applications under a fake name and in many instances, also listed a fake workplace for the aliens, the statement said. |
