well, intel core 2 duo, 2.16GHZ 4GB 500GB disk I have a 1TB USB disk that use for TimeMachine I run Tomcat, Netbeans, Openoffice, SmartGit on this apart from regular stuff like thunderbird. My DB is all on Amazon RDS provided by Company. I also VPN into my data center to connect to DB2, MySQL, SQL Server etc. I do not run any Database Servers on my iMac. I also have a VirtualBox with 3 flavors of Windows to test my software on 3 versions of IE. I also have a Windows Server in Amazon RDS which connect from iMac using RDP. thats how I can continue to use my 6 year old iMac. It feels like new. Never had an issue. The only doola stuff I did was I hardened it using the NSA guidelines and some places it is broken. I upgraded to Snow Lep for $49. Bought for $890 refurbed. plan to keep another 5 years or so or as long as it lasts. Have fun. First one is a little nervous. But, once you do it, you can buy a basic cheap mac and add upgrades at 10 - 15% of the cost what it costs if you were to buy from Apple. peripherals like HD and Memory can be easily uipgraded. Good Luck. | ||

If you are not crazy about Apple Monotor, You can go this rout. One of my friend has a company and he is buying imacs in bulk and attaching Other monitors and replacing with OEM memory. Working very well. Of course, die hard mac people may not like it. but if you are in a budget, it is the cheap and best solution to work on OSX. | ||

So, having more space helps. 13" is a little bit of a squeeze, 11" is impractical, 15" would be awesoem (if it is Air-like instead of the current bulky Pros). What is it going to be used for? Office and serious work or casual home usage? I have not watched a movie on laptop for years. Bachelor lanti setup aithe OK but naaku antha chinna screen lo choodatam kastam. There is no difference between bluray or DVD on that tiny screen, unless you want to output to big screen tv. Dual OS install cheyyocchu using Parallels or Fusion. I have Windows 7 running on mac pro and iMac. | ||
