I did both ways sensexx baa...

first time I went through my insurance company (Geico)...my insurance immediately covered the loss as collision with a 500 deductible....meanwhile I went to the police station and got the accident report where it was mentioned the other party was at fault...I faxed the report to my insurance company and then they dealt with the other insurance company and in one month's time I got back my deductible amount...Advantages here are your car will be fixed immediately but the deductible amount you will get after a month..

second time I called the other parties insurance directly....the other parties insurance called their driver and confirmed if it was his fault or not...vaadu manchodu kaabatti he agreed...and immediately my car got fixed...adhe vaadu oppukokapothe again same story,get the police report and fax it to the other insurance company proving it was the other driver's fault...anyway ee process kooda fast gaane ayyyindi with no money out from my pocket...

end of the day other oarty at fault aithe manaki money loss undadhu...I personally prefer my insurance company to deal with his insurance company...money raavatam oka nela late aina parley gaani I want my car to be fixed immediately....

whatever option ur friend takes,mee vaadni police report collect chesukuni insurance company ki fax cheyyamani cheppu,lekapothe vaallu order chesi idhi elletappatiki 2-3 weeks pattuddi....

Ntr_rocks:

, if you deal directly with other insurance company

It depends, for me the other insurance company gave a very hard time,

my car was damged , but it was partially driveable , so I called the other party insurance and they asked me to submit , repair costs from two independent body shops,which I did; the they said it is too expensivie and some one will come to check the car; and the person is supoosed to come after few days did not turn up etc, it was a hassle;

so finally gave it to my insurance company; only problem with this is , they will deduct your copay ; so you have to pay that amount in front; you will get this back after they had collected the same amount from the other party;

Always it is better to move the car to Body shop as soon as possible

i told him it would be better if his insurance company acts on his behalf...

It is always better, if you deal directly with other insurance company.

Process will move fast. otherwise, it will take months.

For Insurance company's...Police report itself take 2 weeks and then they evaluate the car..

Without getting the police report, they will not touch your car...

You can rent a car and once they fix your car, you can put those bills and claim the money..

Ok...No need to worry...

It will take 2-3 days to get the detailed report from police station.

You can pick that and fax/email to insurance company. If the insurance do that, it will take 2-3 weeks...

Tappu opposite ani police report lo vunte, Rental car hire chesukomanu happy ga...No need to worry..

You should report to your insurance company first...

If the fault is with other guy, you can call that guy's insurance company and explain the situation...

friend met with an accident...car is damaged a bit and he is safe..

now does his insurance company should involved to follow up on this case with the other insurance company?

Also do we need to get any stmt from the police which states that he is not at fault?
