But the basic element I wanted to highlight is not foreign shooting but the foreign content in South Indian films.Of course, cost will reduce when a crew the size of 300 reduces to a dozen. Anytime we have nativity, it is to show narrow-mindedness like caste, fascism, how woman should behave, how each village has one big rich family who Lords over his subjects, etc. Why do we need films so that our Western friends and colleagues will appreciate? Why not make films that our own audience will appreciate? |

Shooting abroad is less expensive compared to shooting in India. reason, crew number is less. Disturbances undavu which makes the work move faster. Foreign crew like Thailand etc are better since they have better equipment than Indian. this also makes the work faster. |

I don't know about that. Only thing I see is that they are all willing to let go of 'ego' and carry their own luggage while abroad.:-) Size of crew reduces. Oh, and I forgot, they start talking in Telugu with white people, but when in India, fellow Indians of same place feel superior speaking in English with one another. |

Madrascalcutta:Seriously, pass on the message to the industry people that there is nothing less beautiful about being Indian or India.
i heard shooting abroad reduces the cost and risk. if you notice the foreign segments are nothing but a shoestring budget All Class Notes -> https://twitter.com/#!/EKSWAcademy all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |

I wasn't directing the question at Jr.NTR alone. Since he has a huge mass fanbase, does it make sense to make a film entirely in America for them? The people who will understand things will be city-based. Of course, I don't believe in the farcical speeches in films that 'the poor are the poor are the best and innocent'. People should be inspired to move up in life. Not to call others "Anna(ya)" so that their sons can come lead us.:-) But shouldn't Indian films be for the Indian people, with subjects close to its reality. They want at least 60% mass audience in India to watch films made in America. |

Kuyyo_morro:
Yeah, but the investment and ROR on these small projects are nothing compared to big budget films. I sat watching Orange in the theater wondering what the people behind it were thinking! The hero was explaining graffiti to heroine, both are in Australia, so it's for the benefit of the audience. It was embarrassing that they put money into something like that. Ram Charan, Music, Brahmanandam were awesome, but that's it. I totally respect Maniratnam for repeatedly stating that there are no topics and places in India that is not appealing enough. |

Madrascalcutta:Just read Puri's tweet that NTR's film will be entirely shot in America. Is this another attempt to further his fanbase?
Looks like Jr is getting frustrated as he lacks fan base in overseas.. Who would buy Chermas brand shirts in US ? They'd rather buy A&F or other brands.. |

Razesh, Not looking at South Indian films with a small eye. Bollywood has a huge market so I can understand the Hollywood hangover. But South Indian films? But why are so many films being shot at least partly in foreign location. What is it with directors thinking that "Graffiti artists" gel with the mass of India and that their heroes need 'White man' servants? Just read Puri's tweet that NTR's film will be entirely shot in America. Is this another attempt to further his fanbase? Seriously, pass on the message to the industry people that there is nothing less beautiful about being Indian or India. |
