First of all, she had a great career. She's 73 or something. Greatandhra guy still wants her to sing for teenagers? Secondly, why expect TN government to recommend for Padma awards? Only for praise, Telugus run after SPB, Janaki, Susheela saying they are Telugus. Kind of sad. Janaki is/was the best playback singer of India. Hope she recovers fully. | ||

South Indian melody queen of yesteryears S Janaki was injured in a freak accident in Tirupati on Tuesday morning. Her condition is stable. Janaki, who came to the temple town to pray Lord Venkateshwara in Tirumala, slipped and fell down in the bathroom of her hotel suite. She fell unconscious as she received head injuries. She was immediately rushed to Sri Venkaeshwara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS). Though the doctors initially suspected that she might have had a blood clot in the brain, a medical bulletin later said there was no damage to her brain and her vitals are functioning normally. �Her blood pressure and heart beat are normal. There is nothing to worry,� doctors said. Janaki, who ruled the Telugu film industry along with legend singer Susheela for several decades, has not been getting many offers these days because of the changing tastes of the film makers and music directors, though she still has the melody in her voice.
