DF will do anything to get this contract which will keep their assembly line busy for few years (18 jets) and bring in lot of cash. Also, UAE, Brazil and some other countries are currently evaluating Rafale and if they ink the deal with India, it will help them sell it to other countries also. Already anni points cover ayyayi. Advantages of this deal: 1. No dependency on US. 2. France has been good with India even during 1998 sanctions. We need support of a reliable VETO power nation. 3. Rafale's price is low compared to EF. 4. We can squeeze lot of technical details out of France which will help us in long run. Disadvantages: 1. This is first production order for Rafale.
