Gujarat has lost the Rs 11,000-crore Gujarat Vittal Innovation City (GVIC) project to Andhra Pradesh due to land issues. The company says there were bureacratic hurdles, but a state government official elaborated that ego issues with a section of GIDC officials were behind the project's relocation. Land was never a hurdle to the project, the government officials say. VIC will set up Hitech Electronic City alongwith GEM on 2,650 acre land in Lepakshi Knowledge Hub (LKH) in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. GEM is $3.4-billion alternative investment group based in Geneva and it will bring investments for the project.
