what are the symptoms? what exception are you getting? web apps have these scenarios broadly: - permgen out of memory - heap space over - stack space over - resources over permgen and stack are too low by default. if you use something like xslt or fo stack space runs fast. both these can be added with JVM options. heap space is a tricky issue. to debug this: - do you see this in prod only or every where? - if you see every where, fire this up in Netbeans and run under profiler and watch obj creations, generations and eden space. if generations are getting too high for any object type, that is an indication something is being held back. most culprits are hashmaps and record sets and prepared statements. make sure every database connection is opened, closed, there is a finally block with rs,ps,conn closes. resources leak: this you wont find in a java profiler. you need to check on the db side. for mysql you have mtop. for db2 you can use toad or embarcadero etc. expensive tools. if you see this in prod only, your life becomes far more interesting! now, what jvm are you using? if you use 1.6, you can use the JMX and use remote monitoring. it does not give a whole lot of details but it gives some details. If you need to monitor a remote JVM, buy/download this profiler called "yourkit". this is the best profiler there is in the market. in any case, yourkit is always useful. I used to use it in Kodak but do not have a license now. give more details. this is the most interesting side of our profession, the detective work. so share the findings. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. | ||

yeh directory lo ayina run cheyyochu.. pipe the output to a temp file, which can be used for investigation with tool that chitti mentioned. usually developers ki kill -3 access vundadhu, your sysadmin has to give privileges or he has to run the command by himself and give you the output file. TPTP ani oka application vastundi.. Otherwise.. Java provides jhat to gofor core dump.. you find this command in bin folder. this command need your java appplication process id.. mottam core dump file create chestundi.. finally open this core dump in eclipse tool which can analyse and tell you were memory leak is.. if you cannot get core dump just give option in your application startup file for coredump when it reaches to high memory..
