cheppalemu bro, stingy fellows untaru, ikkada vishayama emitante, he did not buy these shares through them, so they have to advance him the money till the date of settlement. that is the catch. if you buy through them, they will give immediately. the reason being, they took your money and held it in their float till they settled. so it washes out. here, they have to advance their float. that is the diff. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |

Dreamcatcher:Vesting date is the date you get 100% control on the shares. Let us say your company gave you 100 shares today (01/12/2012) under ESPP and said they will be vested after 2 years. That means, you will have 100% authority on those shares on 01/11/2014, until then, the shares are still owned by company. Regarding taxes, you need to consider when you paid for those shares vs when you sold them. In the above example, let us say you paid for the shares right away on 01/12/2012. And on 01/12/2014 you sold them. That means, your period of holding is 2 years and the gains would be considered as long term gains. Let us say, you paid for the shares on 06/12/2013 and sold them 0n 01/12/2014. Now, your period of holding is only 6 months and the gains will be considered as short term gains.
so portions of the gains will come under LT and some under ST. that is good. wow, what a complicated math that would be. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |

Entikaburlu:your vesting date is like purchase date.

Regarding payments, I think E-Trade should be able to deposit moneys immediately. There should not be any lag unless company is still private and company has to pay you money for the shares sale through E-Trade. |

ivi vaalla dwara konaledu kabatti, immediate cash ivvaka povachu. otherwise, cash=stocks on any day. but it could be possible. at the worst, they will advance first and charge interest. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |

in my understanding, your vesting date is like purchase date. so your gains will come under short term. but call ETrade and check, they might be able to help you. they will do a cash advance and charge interest, that's fine. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |

Venkateswarlu:They are not vested shares. I bought shares myself. 14 days ante too muchi gaa.. chuss.. I need money for my mortgage lock.. ippud 14 days ante sachhaane..
wait a minute. you said ESPP, so i thought employee options. do you sell them through a broker? even then, to actually transfer the money it may take upro 14 days. it's a settlement cycle. sometimes you may get it sooner. your broker may immediately release the money. check it out. every thing depends on your trading account. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |

usually you get within 14 days max. depends on the settlement date. i am not sure about shorterm/longterm. depends on the vesting date. you have to do some research. I do not have this experience. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |
