This is a clear case of Mean reversion. Though I was never able to prove it, I have argued at numerous occasions that most of the schemes implemented in YSR/Cong regime were just populist, which were aimed to gain immediate public attention, than the one's which have longer term positive effects, not even Jala Yagnam. There was no balance between the benefit the state would have reaped to the cost state was incurring. It was funny to see some of the economists(mostly paid idiots  ), praising YSR for the economic boom we experienced with in two years of his rule, while we all know that any economic reform, however small it is, takes over five years to show it's effect if it is religiously implemented. On the other hand, the numbers at discussion are of Real GDP -- which is GDP net of inflation. While considering all the facts, we have to take into account the irrational Real estate boom we experienced during 2005-2010. Moreover, the study is done is McKinsey the consulting which formulated Vision 2020. I would not be surprised if this another slow venom they have started to plant CBN back into power  | ||

The southern states, which led in economic growth for many years, are now beginning to lag. In the past five years, all the four major southern states saw real GDP growth rates below the national average, according to a study done by consultancy firm McKinsey & Co for CII. Compared to the national average of 8.7% real GDP growth between 2005 and 2010, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu were significantly lower at 7.4%. Karnataka was close to the national average at 8.5% and Kerala at 8.1%. These states' larger GDP base, given that they had previously been growing faster than the national average, is seen to be partly the reason for this.
