Nathan Lyon is a very good spinner ( I am a slow-leftarm-orthodox myself.. not consistent though. I can see the way he rips the ball).. Whatever I have seen w.r.t his bowling he is amazing. If Aus persists with him he will be a great spin bowler (better than over-hyped Graeme Swann) Ashwin is good enough his height (the trajectory he gets because of that) and his carrom ball differentiate him from others.. not the best but better than bhajji | ||

This time last year, Nathan Lyon had not played for his state in any format. Now he is a veteran of eight Tests. In a year full of impressive debuts by Australian cricketers, his is the most remarkable story. The Adelaide Oval groundsman who was asked by the state coach to bowl in the nets, Lyon has shown every club cricketer that there is hope. All you need is an opportunity. He wasn't a key part of the attack in Melbourne, where the fast men dominated, but at the SCG, particularly later in the Test, he could be asked to bowl a lot of over of offspin. Incredibly, Lyon has not played a first-class match at the SCG, traditionally the best venue for spin in Australia. |
