collies are very smart also. untundi, that is where they keep the rescue dogs. You have several options: 1) you can raise a therapy/police/fire dog puppy from 3 weeks to 15 weeks. that means, you always keep a puppy only. your job is to teach it basic commands and let it house break. this is a low committment way to try out a dog. 2) some kennels also let you keep one of their breeding dogs for a few weeks to wean the pups (I was told of this, but do not know if it is true) 3) you can offer colleagues dog-sitting on their premises/house when they are away for vacation or shopping etc 4) just goto your local dog-rescue center and take the dogs for a walk. or become a volunteer there all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. | ||

as a current labrador owner, i recommend labrador. very intelligent, quiet, empathic dog. it can read your mind, mood, and can adjust itself. but to keep it really happy, you need to talk it for a walk 1 hour every day. only hassle is, it sheds. golden is even more nice, but sheds even more. shep is even better (most intelligent dog), but a much larger dog. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. | ||

I m living in a condo... Jack russell definitely don't like small place... Still I like that bread some how... No kids yet at home so... Planning to adopt a dog from rescue home... My wife likes jack Russell.. I can't keep that in condo... It needs more space... She pard is my next best dog.. I can spend more than an hour... No problems for me.. tell me about your family. j/r terrier is a fantastic breed but it is a very active dog which keeps itself busy. But it is small and compact. Shepherd is a very intelligent majestic imposing dog, grows big, can read your mind and becomes almost like a human. but it needs atleast 1 hour of activity like alking from you every single day. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. | ||
