any idea that would save someone money will succeed. that is the concept of free markets. lowest cost provider becomes the new leader till another vendor provides at a lower price. low cost is just not an absolute number, but it is the cost per value proposition. having said that, it is unlikely that you would have a 50% or more price differential among vendors of an identical product in a free market. there got to be some thing that causes the price go up. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. | ||

Hmm.. it is not like that.. As said in previous post, let's say there is a website from which you can buy 30K or 60K car service for low price... almost half the price. Only catch is, website checks with less crowded honda dealership and negotiates the price to get you the deal. You buy the service certificate from the website and take it to the dealer for service. However if you have the time and you don't need additional resources, distance may not be an issue. How is your idea different from craigslist? ponee think of it as a service... for ex, Honda Accord 60K service costs 500 bucks in edison honda dealer. But if you drive to Trenton or hackensack (30-40 mile radius) honda dealer then you will get it for 250-300 bucks... I was looking for some specific item/service last weekend. Checked for the pricing with the standard vendors / channels and they quoted huge amount (few hundred bucks) Luckily i came across someone who sells this for much lesser price (almost 50-60%) less. Went with the order and satisfied with the entire process. Then i started thinking, this biz has huge potential if explored / marketed properly. So i started researching more on this... Wanted to check something from you guys to understand whether this has any potential or not. Question Let's say you need some item/service. And it costs 300 bucks (for ex) through big vendors/companies. Now if there is a way you can get the same for 150-175 bucks, would you drive 30-40 miles to get it? (Thinking of it is as a deal... completely legal/ethical etc... ). Your savings would increase / decrease based on total original cost.. which could be any where between 100 bucks to 1000 bucks.
