Any place survival is simply understanding the rules/expectations and working with or around them...:-)

Unless you feel that someone doing the same thing as you is getting more recognition/reward than you are , there is no case. If you are doing A and another person in your band is doing A, there is no differentiator between the two of you - so how will they pick?

What makes you a better candidate for the raise anedi you have to be able to articulate so your manager can justify giving you the raise- because he will be asked the same question by other employees in your band.This is true in any and every company - manaki manam great anukunte saripodu, people across the board who have a say in the bonuses/promotions have to see and recognise that :-)

And unfortunately, for offshore companies it is a fact of life, that in addition to doing your job for the client, to go up the corporate ladder you have to do the administrivia, timesheets, billing reports, proposals etc., etc...That is what is seen as the step up from an individual contributor to a managerial role:-)

Employer work lo if you dont like timesheets/preparing SOW's etc then take up business development related...like prepare PPT's on currently what your project is doing so your employer can showcase this to other clients....or get involved in tech support communities and help other projects...u will get a very good appreciation...anything more than your day today work that helps the company...

I work as a full time employee with one of the top IT consulting co in India. been here for over an year now. I am the only member in the offshore team supporting 3 projects. my boss sits in Delhi and I rarely interact with him, intact I do not report to him on my work. 2 months ago half yearly review lo " client is very happy with your work" but you need to do some additional work for the company ie my employer. I came to know that this additional work is office clerical job like sending reminders to your colleagues to submit time sheets, preparing expenditure reports etc

now if I don't show interest in doing this work, it will work against me during annual review. so my question is if you are doing well in your job isn't that sufficient to be considered for an annual raise?

do i really need to this extra work in the hope that i willbe considered for an anual raise.as it is I spend extra hours every day without complaining and I rarely take offs. e additional work concept ento ardham kaadu.
