Found the following description of the diffrence between sabja(tukmaria seeds) and chia seeds The main difference is that although they are both from the mint family, they are two different genus/species. Tukmaria or Ocimum basilicum L. is a type of basil: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symb⦠Chia or Salvia hispanica L. is a sage: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symb⦠The seeds of both are used in food, but an internet search seems to find more on the Chia. Chia seems to have Central/South American origins.
