Mrhyderabad:So i was thinking of putting all this together in a word/excel doc (password protect it and share it with HD)
I have it. I keep updating it frequently. ny advice - put it on a paper, never in electronic form. keep it in a place your family members can find. also, have a will. sign a medical directve not to keep you on life support more than X days. chk donate organs box on licence. all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. |

Andhrawala:
Yea, one of r attorney mentioned that it is worth if we have millions. However, we need to make sure what ever we have can help our kids w/o any probate issues. So we just did with legal zoom, it is self service for the most part. Hyder, good question but we should't have any legal issues with India properties. I need to check and see if we can add that information too the same trust. How is your lil one, letting you sleep? |

Oohlala:Hyder living trust set chesamu memu. It captures all your bank accs, policies, properties etc. You can update it when ever you want. You can try a local attorney who does living trusts or self support ones like legalzoom. You can also identify who will be the care taker if something happens to both parents. Give a sealed copy to your trusted sibling/parent/friend.
How much does it cost for Living Trust. Bollantha properties vuntebne idhi workout avvaudaa or sannakaaru vudyogulu koodaa seyyochaa |

On a side note, please make sure that your spouse is listed as a joint acc holder or secondary on all your bank accs, otherwise the will not have access to it. If you don't have a living trust or your spouse not listed, your properties will go into probate and it is a painful process I hear. |

USA lo unnantha varaku.. You can even write will on even white paper. You give couple of white papers signed and give to your wife or you can write some will infront of some of your friends and get them signed as evidence. keep 2 3 copies of will with you and wife and at locker. This would only work when you dies accidentally. Also you can go to your bank and ask them to add your wife name under your acct so that she can draw money with photo id when you are not available. Also you can add you kids name. do this for all accounts including NRI accounts. Write on peace of paper or write and put in your mail box as draft with details of your all money , properties and every other details. Make sure to update your mailbox pass with your wife and close contacts so that they can open it in emergency and read it. There are many ways but adding your wife and kids name to your accounts and writing your will is must. even peace paper with your sign would work as will |

Yes, BUT someone has to file the claim, right? IF Wife doesn't know about the insurance company, policy details then it will go waste....

Mrhyderabad:We may not like to think about it but i guess everyone should plan for it. For ex, if something happens to me tomorrow.. my HD doesn't know anything about insurance policies, property or other investment documents and other financial related stuff. She knows high level details about all the stuff but don't have clear info such as a/c numbers, policy numbers/limits etc. So i was thinking of putting all this together in a word/excel doc (password protect it and share it with HD) Any other suggestions? evaraina ilaantidi emaina set chesaaraa?
Think its definitely needed. We never know what may happen. Esp Road accidents are killer in this country. My cousin died when he went with his freinds to a lake for long weekend. Best thing is to keep in bank locker. Continous updates ela seyyalo seppalemu. Also for peopel with kids may need to have Living Will. Where shall kdis go if both parents die? |
