agreed. inspite of all the great things they do, Singapore has a weird system. they are perhaps the only country that implements a sort of reverse reservation. what i mean is, in any country, usually minorities get a leg up. In singapore, they are made sure to remain a minority forver. for ejjample, in their professional schools, there will be just 1 seat for indians. based on the population etc. so, all indians in singapore have to compete for no more than a single seat. another one: an Indian can't buy an apartment any where. they can buy only where density is less than normal. this is to prevent a ghettoing of all indians in one place. another one: an indian can buy an apt from any one (see above), but when you sell, you can sell to only indians. since the number of eligible buyers is almost negligible, you will sell well below the market price. so many such things small and big will eventually piss you off to live there long term. btw, indians in singapore is their version of black population. thats why i get a kick when i see my black brothers in america. been there, done that bro, would like to tell them :-) all opinions expressed are mine and only mine. not to be attributed to the other IP address sharers, my employer, or any other human, animal, robot or alien. | ||

Naku specifc ga aa company teleedu. Singapore has very low tax rate(about 8%), very high compulsory savings (you save 20% and co matches 20%), and a reasonable cost of living. Anything from 65K is very comfortable. Above 100K is a king. the only thing he will miss is a car. cars extremely expensive (Honda Accord costs 120K) parking, CBD etc is just too much. It's a country where Prime Minister and Minsiters use MRT. So, you will get the drift. Low fraud country, so unlikely your bro will have a major issue with the employer. Make sure he gets his EP before he starts working. Working on a Vistor Visa is illegal, bound to be deported with harsh punishment. Make sure he rents an apt where the school teaches Tamil. St Andrews is a good school. Swiss Cottage, St Margaret (for girls) also. There are really high end schools like Anglo Chinese, Raffles, etc but entering them for a brand new singaporean might be hard. Unlike in USA, anyone can go to any school, but if you live close to the school, you will get a preference. note: all the above is 10 years old, so things may have changed a little.
