some weird, but true european observations of american living: People learning to drive a car don't have Learner 'L' plates. I was a bit shocked by the lack of paid holidays and vacations for employees. Really????? That circumcision is the norm. I was very surprised to learn that many people have huge college debts/loans, that a course may require a book worth 50 bucks, and other college-related expenses. I am a second year bachelor student and i only have to pay for dorm rent/food/etc. My country pretty much pays for my education. The books, even the ones that were released recently, are available in the library in huge quantities. Most you guys don't own kettles. That shit needs to be addressed now. What?! I thought everyone had a kettle! How can you not have a kettle! Oh wait... I'm English! Boiling... water... in the microwave! I'm speechless. Salvadoran here. Americans don't take criticism too well. >>WHAT?! •••• you! (in reply) Some people seem to want, or at least fully expect in their lifetimes, the apocalypse/end of the world. My brother recently moved to America for work and he is saying that he can't wait to come back for christmas, because, although he is enjoying it out there, he can't wait to eat unsweetened bread (you put sugar in your bread?  ), baked beans that don't contain maple syrup (just WTF?!) and microwave ready-meals that taste like they are made of real food. | ||
