you can wire the money but you will get low rate,may be you are end up loosing 2 to 3 Rs per $. with large amount your are loosing a lot.. you can send $50K in one shot no problem,do it 4 times,transfer to you NRI/NRE account and withdraw from there.. cherapakura chedevu. | ||

do not send everything in single transaction...this is to reduce the red flags and delays.. if this is a NRI account no problem you can send as much as you want..if this is not a NRI accoumt IT dept is going to be behind you.. make sure that this is tax paid money and clean other wise big brother monitors everything.. cherapakura chedevu. | ||

above 10 lacs(20k) in single transaction would be reported to the RBI (even if to NRO/NRI A/C's) of all the reported transactions RBI will routinely pick a few randomely and these transactions would be quistioned and one has to give explaination (it can be told that you are investing in so and so land paying of loans etc) or pay tax so it is advisable to send to multiple accounts and smaller transactions | ||
