Nara Lokesh Naidu, the only son of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, has generally been away from the media glare all these days. Now, he is all set to be hounded by the media. On Tuesday evening, Lokesh got the notice from Enforcement Directorate seeking an explanation with regard to his expensive studies abroad. He has to appear before the ED to explain how he was able to spend such a huge amount on studying his graduation and post-graduation in business management in prestigious institutions like Standford and Carngie Mellon universities. According to sources, Lokesh was a dud in his studies in his early days. He reportedly got second class marks in Intermediate course. So, it raises many eyebrows when he got admission in these highly sought after universities which admit students exclusively on merit. Inquiries revealed that Standford or Carngie Mellon earmark a few seats for international students sponsored by big business houses. However, they charge hefty fees for such students. Since Lokesh had no merit, he obviously got the admission under sponsored quota. The total fees he had paid to these two universities could be anywhere around Rs 22 crore, besides hostel and food expenses. The ED is now looking into who had sponsored Lokesh and for what. Obviously, Naidu or Bhuvaneshwari had not paid the money as the amount was nowhere shown in their income tax statements or the account books of Heritage. So, some other company might have sponsored him. Naidu's rivals say the expenditure for Lokesh studies abroad was borne by Satyam Ramalinga Raju, while others suspect that it could even be Ambanis.
