@Entikaburlu, Yeah. I use VirtualBox at work. I build linux VMs and configure my apps and distribute to select customers. VM Fusion is similar in hosting virtual machines. When you enable "unity", it brings the VM apps run next to hosts apps (as oppsed to vm window). For example, on host machine (OS X), right click on a video file and open with windows media player. There is no window media player in OS X, but fusion understands that there is a windows vm running, sends the video file to vm machine. The video plays locally on host (os x) as if running in windows. Very cool and seamless. | ||

obviously 5400 is cheaper. for a layman (typical home user, who is not into IT), they do not know the difference. At one time all were 5400. slowly desktop market changed to 7200 RPM other than the high volume disks (2TB + and external disks) After that, high end laptops, business class laptops started introducing 7200 RPM in Laptops. So, its a migration process that is going on. | ||

RPM ante "Revolutions per minute" - how speed your hard disk spins. They are typically 5400, 7200, 10k, 15k etc. The higher it is - the faster it retrieves the data and better performance. Make sure to buy a laptop with min 7.2K rpm. SSR? or SSD? SSD is solid state disk. completely digital - a hard disk made of RAM kind of material. Much faster as there are no moving parts. 20 sec boot time vs 3 min boot time (for example) | ||

 I have a mac pro from 2007, still rocks (Twin Dual-core Xenon processors with 8 GM memory). Upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard was breeze. Also, running Windows 7 in VMware Fusion. If you are not aware of VMWare fusion, see their demo. You see windows applications running on on Mac OS X dock. Very seamless experience between the two OS. | ||

Office dhi Dell latitute use chestanna (I have no choice). It is way better than consumer line of noetbooks (Vostro, Inspiron). Personal use ki, Toshiba R835 vaaduthunna. It has decent specs., but the best part is it weighs 3.2 lb. Very comfortable while using on couch. My lappy is just for browsing, I don't even save any documents there. All the hardwork (video editing etc), storage/backups are handled by my desktop. | ||

Lenovo had been making quality laptops for IBM until 6 years ago. As per the acquisition agreement, they used IBM's brand name for next couple of years. After that, it is just Lenovo and the quality went downhill. I would never buy that cheap stuff, whatever the deal be. I don't understand, how people use 5+ lb. machines as laptops. IMO, a laptop should be not more 3.5 lb and limit under 14" screen. If you need bigger, get a decent desktop with 20"+ monitor. | ||

It was a Thinkpad T-40 something with Vista. It takes forever to boot. After booting, it constantly does something on the disk. Figured out it is something to dow with Roaming. It keeps on shuffling files in out of Roaming. So, when I wanted to launch Tomcat/Database/Netbeans, it just does not get going. Tried everything. Finally hit it hard. the top edge slightly curved! the whole lcd gone. the damn thing belongs to work, so did not want to buy a new one or make the co take loss. so, bought an lcd panel $40 on ebay, over a weekend, carefully disassembled, hammered out the top edge straight, and then put the lcd panel back. Stupid thing still sits on my top shelf as of this instant. then once it stopped working suddenly. just froze. then, i used my 20 year old Wipro trick, put the whole thing in fridge for 20 minutes, restarted, just worked fine. back in 90s, in india, the a/c was very bad. the motherboards used to get hot and hang. check the link and see if it is covered. a few tips: 1) follow the instructions to the T. 2) never use force. 3) Use digital Camera and take a picture of everything before you disassemble. 4) keep all screws and cables neatly in an order (like a ladder) so that they will all go back in the same order. 5) you can do it, it is fun. i replaced the whole lcd panel. hey, did the top panel complete come off, or just the cable got detached. In any case, if the LCD panel itself is working, you can repair it easily using the engineering manual downloadable.
