that's the point. every generation worries about the impending danger because of over population. may be justified so. who knows. but all those fears did not come true when population went from 3 billion to 7 billion in less than 100 years. conservation is always a good thing whether it is for environment or for your budget. at the same time this fear cannot be used by govt to assume more powers.

.indian/asian/african populations fate?

this is the same reason why China loans money to US to buy their products. they will be better off learning to not depend on the west to consume. jobs are not limited. only govt jobs are limited.

i agree there is significant disturbance in ecological diversity. But read that article. and also remember that discovery of alternate energy which has been long overdue will stop deforestation and reverse the damage to environment. i don't think there is any grave risk to planet earth besides that. food water space anaedhi buss. read that article

http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/31/opinion/turner-7-billion/index .html?hpt=hp_c2
From Turner
(CNN) -- The world's population has more than tripled since I was born in 1938. On Monday, our world's population is expected to hit the milestone of 7 billion people -- up from 2.5 billion in 1950 -- with almost all of the growth expected to happen in the cities of less developed countries. This means that the problems the world faced when I was a child are even more urgent now for my grandchildren.

If fertility rates continue at expected levels, the world's population is likely to reach 10.1 billion in the next 90 years. Based on conservative estimates, the number of people in the world should pass 8 billion in 2023, 9 billion by 2041 and 10 billion at some point after 2081.

Just take a moment to think about that. By 2100, we could have nearly 50% more people on this planet than we did at the beginning of the century, competing for the same food, water, space and attention
