The resignation of three MLAs from the Congress party supposedly for the sake of Telangana demand has certainly rattled the party. Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao blamed it on the indifferent attitude of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for the resignation of the three MLAs and their decision to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. “It is most unfortunate development. It does not augur well for the party. The Chief Minister has failed to take the Telangana leaders into confidence. His ill-treatment of the Telangana MLAs has led to this situation,” he said. KK said he had received a call from Sonia Gandhi’s political advisor Ahmed Patel to know about the latest developments. He said he would be going to New Delhi this evening and meet the leaders of the high command. “It is high time the party takes a decision on the Telangana issue before more damage is done to the party,” he said. Another Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy also warned that the Congress party would be wiped out in the 2014 elections if no decision is taken on the Telangana issue. More T-MLAs to come out of Cong? Published Date : 29-Oct-2011 22:00:00 GMT The Congress party in the Telangana region appears to be in serious trouble with the exodus of MLAs from the region one after the other. Three MLAs – Somarapu Satyanarayana from Ramagundam in Karimnagar, T Rajaiah from Station Ghanpur in Warangal and Jupalli Krishna Rao from Kollapur in Mahbubnagar district are quitting the Congress party and their assembly membership on Sunday. They would formally join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi later in the day. Besides, a few more MLAs from Nalgonda and Nizamabad are also planning to quit the party sooner or later. Former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who has already made up his mind to come out of the Congress, is holding negotiations with a few more MLAs from these two districts. Since assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar is not accepting their resignations for the sake of Telangana, Komatireddy is planning to force these MLAs to quit the party en masse and form a separate outfit in the name of the Telangana Congress. Their idea is to create troubles for Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and once their mission is accomplished, they would merge their party with YSR Congress party in the next few months. In all probability, rebel TDP legislators Nagam Janardhan Reddy and K Hareeshwar Reddy also might join this new outfit. If the exodus of the MLAs into the TRS and Komatireddy camp increases due to dilly dallying of the Congress high command on the Telangana issue, it is going spell doom for the Kiran government!
