http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/29/us/florida-cop-reckless-drivin g/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 (CNN) -- A Miami police officer in a marked squad car has been arrested and charged with reckless driving, accused of zigzagging through Florida Turnpike traffic at more than 120 miles an hour so that he could be on time for his off-duty job, the Florida Highway Patrol said Saturday. Officer Fausto Lopez, 35, of Miami was handcuffed at gunpoint earlier this month and charged with second-degree reckless driving, a misdemeanor, according to the highway patrol's offense report. Lopez was eventually released, authorities said |

Just because he is late to work, he may have exceeded 15 mph above the speed limit...Are you guys crazy? $400 speeding ticket.... If I were him, I'd hire a lawyer for $300 bucks and make sure the ticket gets canceled. http://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/Late-for-work-guy-goe s-103-mph-on-West-Seattle-2241136.php And we thought the loss of the Alaskan Way Viaduct was slowing traffic. Seattle police say they clocked -- and cited -- a man riding a motorcycle Friday morning at 103 mph on the West Seattle Bridge. His excuse: He was late for work. His boss must be strict. The law is pretty strict, too. He faces a fine of $411, police say. He did pull over immediately and cooperate with officers, a police spokesman said. If not, he could have been arrested. To make matters worse, nearly everyone in West Seattle has been warned this week that police have been monitoring the bridge and citing those who are using the bus-only lane to speed up their viaductless commute. Friday, police cited 13 for being in the bus lane, three for not having insurance and three for having expired vehicle licenses. |
