I would say Parents....who would like to forget/erase their roots by abandoning the mother tongue(language)...then followed by culture.... I know a 4th generation Malaysian Telugu who can still read and write Telugu and moved to US 8 years ago....What say... If kids forget their language and culture....then they do become confused... "American Born Confused Desis", as it stands for, and is meant to categorize kids born to first generation Indian immigrants (at least, as I understand it). Now, the question I really have is: "Who's confused?" Is it the "kids born here to 1st generation immigrants", or the "first generation immigrants" themselves? I feel both of them confused eventually,what do you say? cherapakura chedevu. |
