I think you are being sarcastic, but swear on God, I did not watch CNN. I do not have Cable BTW. But what I said is not anything ground shattering. Just plain investment fundamental. If you structure your portfolio like a pyramid, of ascending risk, the lowest base tier is Precious Metals. Gold is less risky than Slv and Plat. Probably the riskiest (tip of pyramid) is art. | ||

3000 in 5 years also doubtful. Gold is a safety investment. Not an income yielding investment. So it's utility in a healthy economic environment is only marginal. So, there is no reason to believe it will gain 6X in the next 5 years. The growing affluence in India and Asia is a good supporting factor. But the high price will also push the production quantities. So, it kind of evens out. | ||

antha ledu. Against all expectations US $ has become the strongest currency. Nobody expected it to happen after S&P downgrade, but Euro ended up weaker and pushed up USD. So, gold has weakened. In my exp. gold moves in 200 bands. Now it is in 1600-1800 band. SOmetimes it crosses the band in 6 months some time 2 years. It has moved back from 1800-2000 band to 1600-1800 band. When you buy gold you should not watch its price like a stock price. Buffet says, some investments are like buying a house. Our house value also must be moving up and down a few hundredth percent points every day. Do we react? No. Gold is also like that. Eventually US $ will retract, since a strong USD hurts US exports and also drives US Jobs out (INFY's stellar results yesterday proves that). So, once Euro starts gaining, USD retracts slightly and Gold will move forward. | ||
