What surprises me is, why did she wait till the Indian wedding for sponsor papers? The purpose of American wedding must be to apply for AOS (adjustment of status) and EAD. Advise cheyyandi on the following issue. One of my very good friend, highly educated woman in early 30's got married to a guy from NJ. They met in a matrimonial site.. She also lived in USA then. The registered wedding happened in April 2010 and then she resigned her job and went to India for the social wedding and planned to come back as a dependent (he is a citizen of USA, desi guy). After she left USA, I tried contacting her a couple of times and then she was not reachable since then. Pelli taravata busy lo friends ni marchipoyindi anukunna. Yesterday she emailed me after whole 14 months and gave her phone number in India to call. I was shocked to hear what happened. After the wedding (mid August), the guy returned to USA saying that he will send the papers etc.. 3 weeks later she received a divorce notice. He said that he had a "different life" in USA and cannot continue to live with her. This was a big blow and shock to her and main reason for her to not talk to anyone. She filed cheating case in India, but the legal process is taking too much time.. Also her inlaws in India have lil political power to bribe the police to make sure no cases reach higher authorities. She has proof of wedding registered in NJ, and evidence of wedding in India. Ippudu legal gaa emi cheyyali.
