There is a lot of cost consideration for what's in color vs b/w. A color photo costs several lakhs of rupees extra in a day's run. So, they do not take that decision very lightly. printing industry is very very specialized. decisions that are trivial to us, like selecting a font, make big differences to the bottom line. each typeface packs letters differently. So, for example, in a classifieds page, where space is money, the type face and the font selected makes or breaks the profits. believe it or not, there are fonts that print with holes in them to save the ink! a few inches of space and a few bottles of ink per day adds up to big amounts over the year. http://www.labnol.org/internet/fonts-for-saving-printer-ink/ 12603/ so, nobody in sound mind takes these decisions based whose caste is what. | ||

some of you guys think why CBN's message came between MMS and Tata, and think there is some hidden motivation, right?? here is the reality.. usually, the newspaper page is laid out by using a software package. the package uses OR algorithms. It's job is to use the most optimum layout such that most contiguous space is allocated for advts. keep in the mind, the newspaper owner has no interest in the layout of the news, except that large contiguous spaces can be used for selling. So, in some crazy algorithmic twist, CBN may have come between MMS and Tata. Or it could be intentional. So what's the frikking difference. It's a layout software, mouse-click done by a sub-editor's assistant. Ramoji is not standing in a gochi at 2.00 AM in the editors office to place CBN's picture between MMS and Tata. That much I am sure. |
