Story
Dussehra sentiment works well for NTR. His two release ‘Student No1’ and ‘Brindavanam’ which released for ‘Dussehra’ became block busters. NTR and his fans are hoping a hat-trick with ‘Oosaravelli’ which released today. The expectations of ‘Oosaravelli’ are high since NTR gave chance to director Surender Reddy for the second time even though their first movie ‘Ashok’ turned dud at box office.

Tony (NTR) falls in love with Niharika (Tamannah) in a kidnap episode in Kashmir and follows her to Hyderabad later realizes that Niharika is already engaged to Rakesh( Advik Mahajan), son of minister Bharani (Tanikella Bharani). Tony changed his status from lover to friend with Niharika and exposes the true colors of Rakesh. Niharika starts feeling love for Tony. Rakesh develops hatred towards Tony and tries to eliminate him with the support of mafia don Azzu’ s ( Prakash Raj) brother Irfan. But, Tony kills Rakesh, Irfan and minister Bharani and escapes the scene.

A special officer (Raghu) from Mumbai lands in Hyderabad to catch Tony and shocked to see Niharika and Tony at temple. After seeing the special officer, Tony tries to kill him too which was witnessed by Chitra ( Payal Ghosh), Niharika friend. Chitra stuns with Tony’s act and wanted to tell the matter to Niharika. Tony stops Chitra from doing so by telling her the flash back.

To know the flashback, go and watch the movie in theater.
Performance

NTR under performed to his ability for the first time. His characterisation lacks energy and looked ordinary. NTR dances are not impressive so are fights. Overall, NTR disappoints in the movie.

Tamannah played an important character in the movie apart from NTR love interest. She gave her best and scored some points in couple of scenes. Payal Ghosh role is just like any other friend character in the movies.

Prakash Raj is wasted in the mafia don role. Advik Mahajan performed well in negative role. Tanikella Bharani, Ahuti Prasad, GV, Murali Sharma acted in less prominent roles. Raghu acted well as police officer. Kick Shyam restricted to couple of scenes in the flash back. Jaya Prakash Reddy, Raghu Babu, Duvvasi Mohan comedy is for the name sake.
Technical

Director Surender Reddy chose a routine story and tried to give it a new look with the charecterisation of protagonist. Movie script is very weak and screenplay is erratic. He failed in every aspect of direction and missed the basic principle of screenplay.

Devi Sri music is average and songs composed are not to the stature of NTR. Lack of beat restricted NTR dancing abilities. Background score is average. Rasool Ellore cinematography is good.

Story by Vakkantham Vamsi is routine. Except couple of dialogues by NTR, dialogues by Koratala Shiva are ordinary. Lot more needed from Goutham Raju in editing department. Fights by Ram Laxman lacks innovation.
Analysis

The first half of the movie is filled with mediocre screenplay with meaningless comedy scenes. There is nothing in the first half except director’s rigorous effort to show hero’s ‘Oosaravelli’ characterisation. Story only picks up towards the interval with a twist. Second half pace is much better but ends on a predictable note once the flashback episode is over.
Overall, the movie is a big letdown to those who are waiting for a blockbuster from NTR. This movie neither attracts NTR fans, masses or class audience. Weak story coupled with mediocre screenplay plus lack of commercial elements (Dances, Comedy, Songs and Fights) makes ‘Oosaravelli’ a dud at the box office.
Finally, Only makers are able to see‘Oosaravelli’ changing colors but not the audience. Give it a miss.
