The Congress High Command is believed to have decided that the situation in Andhra Pradesh might warrant President's rule, because of the total paralyzation of the administration, due to the ongoing Sakala Janula Samme. Congress President Sonia Gandhi is worried about the state, which always stood by the party in its thick and thin. When Indira Gandhi fought with all the Congress top leaders, only two states stood by her. One was Karnataka and the other was Andhra Pradesh. But then in AP the Congress led by Brahmananda Reddy was in power. But people were with Indira. With Chenna Reddy standing by her and with the Karnataka Chief Minister Devaraj Urs providing the material support, Indira Gandhi won the country back. Such is the importance of the state to the Congress. However, Sonia Gandhi is unable to say yes to Telangana. If she does that she would loose Seemandhra. In this piquant situation, imposition of the President's rule appears to be the only way left for the Congress. But before resorting to it, Congress appears to be making efforts to make a last minute bid to resolve the crisis. And that is by sending a senior leader of the party to Hyderabad. Sonia Gandhi is believed to have chosen Finance Minister for the task. Pranab is presently away at Kolkata, to participate in the Dasara celebrations, which are very important to Bangalis. He is expected to arrive in Hyderabad by 7th or 8th and be here for two or three days. According to information, the Chief Minister will be called to New Delhi to iron out the issue. If this attempt fails, then naturally President's rule would be imposed. |
