I watched Dookudu movie on sunday (9/25) in VA @230. A star is a person who is able to single handedly carry an average movie to success on his own shoulders. Except Pokiri and Khaleja (which I would still reckon as Mahesh's best performance in comedy), there was never an instance where Mahesh Babu single handedly carried a movie. He does it in Dookudu. To be very honest, the movie is an average one and a rehash of srinu vytla's dhee, ready, dubai seenu (from a story telling point), runs just bcos of mahesh and mahesh alone. Mahesh's body language and ease improved by leaps and bounds. This started in Pokiri and in Khaleja it went to a different league. Dookudu takes it a step further. Comedy timing was very good and he looks as stylish as ever. Many said that it is the hasya nata viswaroopam of mahesh, brahmi and ms narayana. I am sorry to differ. Brahmi's performance/characterization in dhee, ready and king are far better - reason for comparision is all these movies are from the same director. MS Narayana's hype did not meet the reality. He did entertain but no way its his best performance as mentioned in web reviews. Vennela Kishore was good. Samantha was very cute although her role is small. Parvathi Melton looked delicious in the club song where she wore shorts - yummy  Srinu Vaitla 100 marks in the way he directed comedy scenes. But very average and ordinary overall. He needs to come out of this "bakra" style. BGM and music was at its worst except a few places. Orey thaman gaa nee yabba -entra aa music. Ee music ni excellent ani mahesh anadam chaala badhakaram. The movie was screened in 2 theatres and both were sold out. VA lo record sthyai lo vastunnaru janalu. My rating: Mahesh Babu - 5/5 Oveall Movie - 3/5 |
