In a severe setback to Y SR Congress party president, his group MLA from Anantapur Gurunath Reddy surfaced at the public meeting of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday, lending credence to the reports that some of the MLAs supporting Jagan are planning to return to the Congress fold. Gurunath Reddy was one of the 26 MLAs who had resigned in protest against the CBI inquiry against Jagan and had gone to Speaker Nadendla Manohar only a couple of days ago asking him to accept their resignations. Naturally, his presence at the official meeting of the CM surprised everybody. Not only that, Gurunath Reddy chaired the official meeting and spoke about the welfare schemes of the government. He ended the speech with slogans: "Jai YSR and Jai Congress." Apparently, some of the pro-Jagan MLAs had to go develop second thoughts over their resignations, in the wake of his controversial statement in Delhi that he would support the Congress party at the national level. They are wondering what the point in floating a separate party is, when Jagan is willing to support the Congress in Delhi; and so, it would be better to remain in the Congress and gain benefits in the next three years. |
