The YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s friendly overtures to Congress have strengthened the perception that he is desperately seeking a deal with the ruling party.

By saying that his party was not averse to supporting a Congress-led government at the Centre in future, he is sending a clear signal to the Congress bosses that he is willing to do business with them if they help him wriggle out of the ongoing CBI case.

It is also said in political circles that Jagan went to an undisclosed place in Delhi last night and was out of the radar for well over two hours. This has led to speculation that he may have met central Congress leaders for a patch-up.

“We have reports that Jagan met Sonia Gandhi’s political adviser Ahmed Patel and other Congress leaders,” the senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former Minister Kodela Sivaprasad said. He said it was very clear that Jagan had gone to Delhi with a begging hand to find a way out from the CBI case.

“If he has nothing to hide, why should he go Delhi and plead for audience with various leaders?” another TDP leader Payyavula Kesav asked. The CPI State Secretary Narayana said that Jagan should face the CBI investigation fully if he did not do anything wrong.
