The nexus between Janardhan Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy is what the Central Bureau of Investigation will be looking for next. Although the case on hand before the CBI where Janardhan Reddy is concerned pertains to the Obulapuram Mining Company in the days to come, the CBI will look to explore into more angles that connect Jagan. CBI sources say that they will exploring the money trail between the OMC and the assets owned by Jagan to find out what exactly the nexus has been. CBI sources in Hyderabad said that the first part of the investigation would focus mainly on the manner in which Janardhan Reddy used the mining lease granted in Andhra Pradesh to carry out illegal mining in Karnataka. However the next part of the probe would include the money trail from the OMC to a company by the name R R Global. R R Global is a company owned by a person by the name Diwaker Reddy, a Jagan loyalist. Diwaker Reddyâs brother R Reddy is the executive director of the Sakshi Telegu newspaper owned by Jagan. The CBI finds a money trail both ways. There is a trail to show that R R Global had invested in OMC. Further they have also found another trail which shows that R R Global had also parked some money in the OMC. The other trail which would come under the scanner is that concerning a company by the name Red Gold Enterprises which again is owned by Diwaker Reddy. Preliminary investigations by the CBI have shown that Red Gold Enterprises was given around 40 per cent of the iron ore which was mined by the OMC. This money was once agains invested in R R Global according to the CBI. The CBI says that the trail will be interesting to explore since the owners of both Red Gold and R R Global (Diwaker Reddy and R Reddy) are directors in the Jagathi publications that is owned by Jagan Mohan Reddy. The CBI also says that there was an amount of Rs 90 crore which the Red Gold Enterprises had earned through mining with the help of OMC and it had invested Rs 40 crore in Jagathi Publications. There is also a trail of Rs 30 crore which can be found to be invested in Indira Television by purchasing shares of this company. The other big trail that the CBI would be looking to link Janardhan and Jagan is the one pertaining to the Brahmini Steel company. The company was to be set up during the time of Dr Y S Rajasekara Reddy and Jagan and Janarhan Reddy were to be partners. Land to the tune of 10700 acres had been granted to Janardhan Reddy at a throw away price of Rs 18500 per acre. However this deal did not go through due to the death of YSR and Reddy mortagaged that land for Rs 350 crore. Further the CBI also found that this money was invested in GJR Holdings in Mauritius a company which belongs to Janardhan Reddy. Although the links between Jagan and Janardhan Reddy are through other members, the biggest link between the two will the association in the Brahmini Steels. The CBI has evidence to show that both these persons were involved in this company and both had even sold their shares in this company to another firm. While the Jagan angle will become a major part of the probe, the CBI would first look into the various incidents of illegal mining carried out by the OMC. The CBI would be questioning Janardhan Reddy in the days to come and these are a couple of questions that they would ask him. The export of iron ore worth Rs 5000 crore illegally. The encroachment into forest land in lands not falling under the lease contract which falls under the forest area. The support he got from the members of the YSR family and friends to carry out mining activities in the state. How he managed to carry out mining in the name of OMC in Karnataka when he had a lease from Andhra Pradesh The investments made into Jagan owned companies with the money raised from OMC. How despite being granted lease for 132 hectares he still carried out mining activity in 326 hectares of land. How he had raised rising contracts and mined lands owned by others in the name of OMC. How the assets owned by him are connected to illegal mining. |

The arrest of the mining mafia don and former Karnataka minister Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy, though coming 21 months after registering an FIR against him on the orders of the AP Government, is surely seen as a stage being set for the arrest of YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan reddy who is facing investigation for allegedly accumulating illegal wealth. CBI affidavit in the AP High Court had revealed that Janardhan Reddy had made huge quid pro quo investments into Jagati Publications owned by Jagan. RR Global, owned by Mr S. Diwakar Reddy, has made huge investments in Jagathi Publications and his brother Mr. S. Ramakrishna Reddy is the executive director of the Sakshi Telugu daily and the Indira Television both owned by Jagan. âThere was a link between the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) and the Jagathi Publications. RR Global was the sub contractor for the OMC and its money was invested in Jagathi Publications,â said the CBI in its affidavit. However, observers think the arrest of Jagan may not take place in the immediate future going by the statements of the CBI officials. âWe are collecting more evidences against Jagan and we are limited to that act only at present,â say the officials. The CBI registered cases against Janardhan Reddy on December 7, 2009 under various sections of IPC, the Prevention of Corruption Act, Indian Forest Act, Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act with regard to the alleged illegal mining. But his arrest has taken place now after a gap of more than one-and-a-half-years now. The same delay may not take place in Jaganâs case before he is arrested. Since the CBI has been making its moves in the most strategic manner, the investigating agency may swoop on him at any moment. |

New Delhi: Amid reports that he may be arrested for his alleged nexus with the mining lobby, Jaganmohan Reddy, Tuesday, appeared concerned about the prospect while categorically asserting that he will not rejoin the Congress. Speaking to a news channel, the Kadapa MP said that he is in the âOppositionâ and those who are acting against him are in power at the Centre, as well as in Andhra Pradesh. While hoping that things would not come to a point where he is arrested, Jagan said, âIf so happens, let that injustice be also be seen by Godâ¦God will teach them a lesson.â Son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy, Jagan, has been under the scanner for his association with the mining baron G Janardhana Reddy, who is under arrest under the Prevention of Corruption Act. âMy father campaigned against Bellary brothers,â Jagan said, adding that there is no link between Janardhana Reddy and his party and that CBI has not proved any nexus. As per reports, the CBI has incriminating evidence linking Jagan with the Reddy brothers of Bellary. The CBI is on Jaganâs trail on orders of the High Court which had asked the investigating agency to probe his assets. His arrest could come as early as this week itself - before the end of the Parliament Session on September 8- as the CBI can then avoid seeking permission of the Lok Sabha Speaker for the same. Cleary, Jagan has reasons to worry and hence he is in the national capital to meet all important Opposition leaders and seek their support against the alleged witch-hunt launched by the Congress on him. During the interview, when he was asked about his apparent growing closeness with the BJP, after Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj backed him in the Parliament, Jagan said, âI have lot of respect for Sushma Swaraj, the same Congress party in which my father served for 30 years, tainted him. Sushma Swaraj, against whom my father fought 30 years, has come in support against injustice.â âAs far as politics is concerned, BJP stands for a different ideology; we stand for a different ideology. Never would we tie up with the BJPâ¦mark this word, we are giving the word to the entire community, we will never tie-up with the BJP.â âAs far as Congress party is concerned, it is ruling we are in the Opposition. If God so blesses us with the numbers then we have told a many a times that we have no qualmsâ¦our interest is in the state. We will ask for agriculture ministry from a UPA like government,â he added. Jagan also rubbished that he has become rich overnight and that he was helped by his father in furthering his business interests. âThere has to be a violation in place. If at all the govt had done any favour there should be in place rule and that should have been grossly violated to favour somebody. Only if the rule is violated then only you can say that somebody was benefitted on a quid-pro-quo basis.â |
